Based on the original MT-16, which was discontinued due to aging manufacturing molds, the FW-36 was updated to modern standards with the cooperation of Open Distribution. Its square profile and distinctive clamping structure preserve the character of the original design. The handlebar is secured between upper and lower clamp sections, creating a recognizable shape while holding the bar firmly in place. The 25.4 mm handlebar clamp diameter is less common among modern stems and is compatible with handlebars of the same size, including the HiHi-BAR, JAM-BAR, and SYNC BAR. Its short 60 mm extension works naturally with chromoly MTBs, commuter bikes, and touring builds. While retaining a classic appearance, it fits modern 1-1/8-inch threadless steerer tubes.
