RawLow Mountain Works Antelope | A Lightweight, Durable, and Comfortable Alpine Backpack

More than simply lightweight.

The RawLow Mountain Works Antelope is an alpine-style backpack designed to balance low weight, durability, and long-distance carrying comfort.

With enough capacity for multi-day hiking, hut trips, and tent-based alpine journeys, it is built for hikers who need a lightweight pack that remains dependable when fully loaded.

On long trails, rocky ridgelines, and technical mountain routes, the weight shown on a specification sheet is only part of the story.

A backpack must also remain stable against the body, distribute the load effectively, and feel comfortable enough to carry until the end of the day.

The Antelope was developed around these practical requirements.

Its narrow silhouette is designed for the confined trails, rocky terrain, and forested routes commonly found in the Japanese mountains.

Even when carrying overnight equipment, the pack avoids unnecessary width, allowing the wearer to move more naturally through narrow paths, rock sections, and chained routes.

The main body is made from durable 1000D nylon.

This material provides the abrasion resistance needed for contact with granite, vegetation, and externally attached equipment such as skis.

High-wear areas, including the front panel and shoulder harnesses, use tear-resistant 210D Spectra Grid.

The bottom and roll-top sections are made from X-PAC, providing a lightweight combination of strength and water resistance in areas that are frequently exposed to moisture and ground contact.

Rather than using a single fabric throughout the entire backpack, each material is selected according to the performance required in that particular area.

This multi-fabric construction reflects RawLow Mountain Works’ practical approach to balancing durability, weight, and function.

A distinctive daisy chain runs along the front of the pack.

It reflects the brand’s respect for historic climbing culture while providing flexible attachment points for cords, straps, carabiners, and additional equipment.

Gear loops and an ice axe holder are also retained, demonstrating that the Antelope is designed around mountain practicality rather than weight reduction alone.

The internal back pad and shoulder harness padding were selected through repeated field testing.

They may feel slightly firm when new, but are designed to support the load during long hikes and gradually conform to the wearer with continued use.

The Antelope is available in two back lengths: S/M at 420mm and M/L at 470mm.

The shoulder harness shape is also adjusted specifically for each size, helping a wider range of hikers achieve a stable and comfortable fit.

Compatible with ultralight equipment but durable enough for demanding mountain use, the Antelope is made for hikers who value low weight without sacrificing reliability or long-term comfort.

【STAFF REVIEW】

Many lightweight backpacks are designed with minimum weight as the main priority, but the Antelope feels particularly well balanced.

It remains lightweight while providing a reassuring sense of structure and support when worn.

The shoulder harness and back pad are especially well designed. Even when the load increases, the weight does not feel concentrated only on the shoulders, which can make a significant difference during long days on the trail.

Its narrow silhouette also works well on the confined trails and rocky terrain often found in the Japanese mountains.

Even with overnight equipment inside, the pack allows the body to move naturally without unnecessary bulk.

It pairs well with ultralight equipment while retaining the durability required for rocks, vegetation, and winter gear.

For hikers seeking a backpack that balances weight, toughness, and carrying comfort rather than focusing on only one of these qualities, the Antelope is an excellent choice.

【CHOOSING A SIZE】

Backpack fit depends not only on overall height, but also on torso length.

Measure your torso and select the size with a back length closest to your own measurement.

When your torso length is equal to or longer than the backpack’s stated back length, choosing the larger size is generally recommended.

Please select the size according to back length rather than capacity.

The S/M size is intended for users approximately 160?170cm tall and may be particularly suitable for smaller or slimmer body types.

The M/L size is a unisex option intended for users approximately 168?180cm tall.

【WATER RESISTANCE】

Water-resistant materials, including X-PAC, are used in key areas, but the backpack is not completely waterproof.

Water may enter through the seams or opening. Please use a waterproof pack liner or dry bags for items that must remain dry, especially during rain.
