HIKER TRASH H.Y.O.H “HIKE TREK MID” (HT30006) | Mid-Length Merino Wool Trail Socks for Everyday and Outdoor Use
Japanese-made trail socks combining long-distance hiking experience with a versatile mid-length design.
The HIKER TRASH H.Y.O.H “HIKE TREK MID” carries the message “HIKE YOUR OWN HIKE,” encouraging each person to enjoy the trail in their own way.
The socks were developed by combining the experience of Triple Crown hiker Ryosuke “SKETCH” Kawato with ROTOTO’s sock-making expertise. HIKER TRASH prototypes were field-tested during Kawato’s approximately 5,000 km journey along the Continental Divide Trail in 2017, with damage and feedback used to refine the design.
The fabric contains 79% machine-washable merino wool, providing moisture management, warmth, and antibacterial and odor-resistant properties. Polyester and nylon are added to improve abrasion resistance for extended use.
A pile-knit sole provides cushioning and flexible stretch. The generously shaped three-dimensional heel wraps around the foot to help reduce unwanted movement while walking.
In abrasion testing, the toe and heel reached approximately 3,300 cycles, while the sole reached approximately 2,800 cycles. The mid-length design is suitable for hiking and trekking, as well as bikepacking, cycling trips, and everyday wear.
The cuff features the “HIKE YOUR OWN HIKE” message and a carabiner hole inspired by long-distance hikers who hang wet socks from backpacks or tents to dry.
