HIKER TRASH “HIKE＆RUN” (HT30001) | Lightweight Merino Wool Trail Socks for Hiking and Running

Japanese-made trail socks combining a lightweight feel with the durability required for long days on the move.

The HIKER TRASH “HIKE＆RUN” was developed by combining the experience of long-distance hiker Ryosuke “SKETCH” Kawato with ROTOTO’s sock-making expertise.

The fabric is made with 80% machine-washable merino wool, offering moisture management, warmth, and antibacterial and odor-resistant properties. Nylon and polyester are added to improve abrasion resistance during extended use.

The socks weigh approximately 38g in size S, 40g in size M, and 44g in size L. Their lightweight construction makes them suitable for hiking and trail running, as well as long-distance cycling and bikepacking.

In abrasion testing, the toe and heel reached approximately 6,500 cycles, while the sole reached approximately 6,000 cycles. This construction balances a light feel with the durability needed for activities that involve long periods of movement.

A carabiner hole is built into the cuff. Inspired by long-distance hikers who hang wet socks from backpacks or tents, it provides a practical way to carry or air-dry the socks.

HIKER TRASH prototypes were field-tested during Kawato’s approximately 5,000 km journey along the Continental Divide Trail in 2017. Damage and feedback from the trail were shared with the development team in Japan, and revised samples were sent back to the field to refine the series.
